However, don’t scrimp on your underwear. There’s no point having a great outfit and but duff pants. There are two reasons you should wear decent pants. Firstly, you will know that everything you’re wearing is quality. That even down to your pants, you’ve taken care over your appearance.
Secondly, and more importantly, someone will still see your pants: the woman in your life. Whether it’s a date, the first time you and your date have sex, your girlfriend or your wife. People notice details. If there’s anything in this blog that I’d like you to take away, it’s the idea that details matter. It might not be a deal breaker, but it’s not worth having that moment that jars with the sharply dressed man she’s been used to seeing.
Replace your pants often. They get washed after one day’s use (I hope). If you have 10 pants, then each pair gets washed 36 times a year. That’s enough to fade any colours. Even white pants, with that much washing, become grey and off-white. Replace often or buy lots. Throw out fraying and faded pants that have seen better days.
What type of pants to buy? I used to be a fan of Calvin Klein pants. I never liked wearing branded clothing but for some reason I didn’t mind wearing branded pants with a prominent logo on it. No longer. I like classic boxer shorts now. I buy mine from Uniqlo in checks and classic colours such as blues and pinks. I’ve gone off trunks now because I think they’re too tight and not supposed to be good for your balls. It’s worth taking care of those.
This is one area of dressing where I’d definitely seek a woman’s input. Take her shopping with you and see what she’d like to see you in.
