Other websites will give you lots of tips about looking better.
They’ll tell you that you should know 10 different ways to do your pocket square.
Or that you should wear oxford button down shirts.
Or that you should work on your confidence.
Or that you should increase your testosterone.
All these different tactics. It’s easy to get lost in them and then you switch off.
You carry on as you were before. No changes and no improvements.
I genuinely think that you switch off because it got too complicated and too mixed up.
Too many tactics and no cohesive strategy and objective.
Let me give you the objective and then the strategy (feel free to disagree too)
Our objective is to look better than we do now and to do so in a way that doesn’t take over our lives.
We don’t want to be over-groomed and over-preened.
We want to be have the odd compliment about the way we look but we don’t need it.
We want to have the quiet confidence and knowledge that we look good.
We want to look masculine and unafraid to be so.
Our strategy is to focus on the things that make the most difference to looking good. To do more of what really works and moves the needle and less of what doesn’t.
What works is:
- Being lean and slim
- Being muscular and athletic
- Having a good haircut
- Being well-groomed (clean hair, clean clipped nails etc)
- Having good clear skin
- Good posture and bearing
- A good smile
- A happy outlook
- Clothes that fit
- Clothes that work together in colour and style
- Clothes that convey quality and taste
You can see from the above list that these aren’t that difficult to achieve.
They might take some work, but they are simple and easy to understand.
You could do some of the list and add to your repertoire over time.
Looks achievable right? Damn straight.
Let’s get to work.
Let me know in the comments what you reckon. Until next time.
